The Golden Casco de Leiro (helmet of Leiro) is a ritualistic head piece dating from around 1000 BC. It was found in the town of Leiro in Galicia, north Western Spain. Here I like the link of Galicia with the Gauls and Wales being known in French as Payes de Galles or Home of the Gauls!
This cap is hammered from a single piece of Gold, it is decorated in a similar fashion to the German and French conical master pieces with circles, rings and staggered patterns which are more than likely linked to astronomical observances. This example has a small cone protruding from its central point. (crown)
This style and tradition has examples throughout Europe and also stretching into North Western Asia.
