Jackson Lucitt is an indie-folk artist born and raised in the industrial town of Port Talbot, South Wales. Progressing from a band manager to promoter and then tour manager of his company Shiny Vinyl Presents, Jackson has used the last few years to turn his lifelong passion for music into a career. He has continued to run with this passion and thrown his hat into the ring of performing.
All his songs began as poems on a page—stories of heroes and villains, triumphs and cautionary tales. One of the many benefits of growing up in a small, blue-collar, steel town is there is no shortage of colourful characters. These stories would develop into a catalogue of songs played to a backdrop of contradictory melodies.
After a life-altering pilgrimage to one of music’s holy lands—Nashville, Tennessee—Jackson began to strive to emulate the sights, sounds and emotions he found there. His work will resonate with fans of his influences, the likes of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, The Smiths, and more recently, Jake Bugg. Combining elements of Brit-pop from his home with Americana from his travels, Jackson brings a unique perspective and voice to the indie-folk scene. Often merging serious subjects in his lyrics with cheerful melodies, Jackson’s performances are simultaneously relatable and engaging, often evoking a crowd chorus. Released in April of 2021, his debut single “Text Back Blues” combines the plight of the modern day man with an almost comically juxtaposed upbeat tune.
