Autumn of Welsh Rugby

It may not be rugby as we know it but Wales will be playing a series of games throughout the autumn which will serve as a welcome distraction to the challenging times we’re facing, regardless of where we’re living. The Welsh team will kick-off with a ‘friendly’ against France on Fri. 24th Oct. 8.00 pm GMT KO followed by the postponed Six Nations game against Scotland followed by the Autumn Nations Cup which sees pool games against Ireland, Georgia and England.

Past Playing Record

All eyes will be on the opening match against France at the Stade de France which will hopefully see a reversal of the 23-27 result at the Principality Stadium earlier this year when tries from Dillon Lewis and Dan Biggar were not enough to clinch the result needed thanks to an interception try from French outside-half Roman Ntamack. The two adversaries have been playing each other since 1908 with Wales winning 51 times and France 45 and the French have been showing promising signs despite the setback against a fired-up Scotland side.

Exciting New Blood

Presumably, Wales will want to use the match to give debuts to some of the exciting talent coming through the ranks and one of those names could be 19-year old flying winger Louis Rees-Zammit who although making a name for himself at Gloucester, hails from Cardiff and has already played for the Welsh U18’s. He’s being touted as one of the most exciting emerging players in Europe lighting up the English Premiership with his try-scoring exploits and Welsh rugby fans will be itching to see the whizz kid don the famous red jersey.

TV Match Coverage

The games will provide a great opportunity for Welsh fans all over the world to connect through the various groups on the St. David’s World platform and meet up to cheer the home country on. All the games will be covered by S4C but the bad news is that only viewers in the UK will be able to access the game through S4C. The good news is that you will be able to watch all games via Amazon Prime Video with the Scotland game showing on the BBC and the Ireland game on CH4 in addition.

Send us Your Match Pics!

We would love to hear from you if you are watching the French game abroad and maybe some photographs to share with us showing where you watched it. The more remote location, the better, and we’d love to see you creating your own piece of Wales by donning your Welsh shirts and hanging Welsh flags in your surroundings. Rugby provides the perfect opportunity to get to know some of the guys who belong to the groups that you have joined so you can meet up to create an atmosphere that only rugby internationals can.

Getting the Welsh Support Together using St. David’s World
